PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high frequency coil of a magnetic resonance imaging apparatus capable of enhancing the intensity of a detection signal and improving an S/N ratio, and a manufacturing method of the high frequency coil. SOLUTION: The MRI apparatus 10 has a magnet 11 for applying a static magnetic field to a subject, a gradient magnetic field coil 12 for applying an inclined magnetic field to the subject and the high frequency coil 1. The high frequency coil 1 is constituted so as to irradiate the subject with high frequency pulses having a nuclear magnetic resonance frequency determined by the nuclide of a noticeable atom of the subject and the intensity of the static magnetic field to detect the nuclear magnetic resonance signal corresponding to high frequency pulses from the subject. This high frequency coil 1 has an electrically conductive segment set to a thickness maximizing the S/N ratio of the nuclear magnetic resonance signal detected from the subject.
