PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate replacement work of parts composing a starter power transmission mechanism in a starter device of an engine for a motorcycle having a crank shaft having an axial line along a width direction of a vehicle body frame rotatably born by a crank case of an engine main body and having a starter motor attached on the crank case, and having a starter power transmission mechanism transmitting torque of the starter motor to the crank shaft provided between the starter motor and the crank shaft. SOLUTION: A vertically extending housing tube part 78 is provided on an upper surface of the crank case 28. Torque transmission members 71, 72, 75, 77 constructing at lease a part of the starter power transmission mechanism 68 are housed in the housing tube part 78 in such a manner that the same can be detached from an upper end of an opening part of the housing tube part 78. Both end parts of a support shafts 79, 80 rotatably supporting the torque transmission members 71, 72, 75, 78 are supported by a side wall of the housing tube part 78 in such a manner that the same can be attached on and detached from an outside of the housing tube part.
