1,112,290. Vehicle washing apparatus. BOEWE BOEHLER & WEBER KOMM. GES. 30 Nov., 1966 [31 Dec., 1965], No. 53614/66. Heading B7J. Vehicle cleaning apparatus comprises pairs of cylindrical brushes 5, 6, Fig. 3, each rotatably mounted at an end of an arm 7 which may be cranked if necessary and which is itself pivoted to an arm or support 4 pivoted to the side or roof of a washing shed or mobile framework 3. The arms 4 and 7 may be returned by a spring 10, Fig. 5, to a position limited by stops 11, and their relative movement may be damped. The return of the arms may also be achieved by tilting their pivoted axis through a small angle (α) as in Fig. 1 (not shown), or by means of feelers, a light beam or by variation of brush pressure. Also in Fig. 1 upper and lower arms 4 and 7 are shown but the brushes may be mounted on upper arms only or mounted centrally of the length on a single pair of arms (4<SP>11</SP>), (7<SP>11</SP>). The point of mounting of the arm 7 on the arm 4 need not be at its end and may not coincide with a brush axis and the arm may be arcuate or bent. |
