<p>The present invention relates to an amorphous form of valganciclovir hydrochloride and the pharmaceutical compositions thereof. The amorphous form can be directly prepared by spray-drying or azeotropic distillation of reaction mass. The amorphous form is useful in treating viral infections, for example, herpes simplex and cytomegalovirus.</p>
