PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a polylactic acid composition having increased rate of biodegradation without impairing mechanical strengths, and to provide a shaped article of the same. SOLUTION: The polylactic acid composition comprises 100 pts.wt. of a polylactic acid and 1-100 pts.wt. of a polyoxalate expressed by the formula -[O-R-O-CO-CO]<SB>n</SB>-. This invention relates to the shaped article obtained from the composition. (In the formula R is a main chain alkylene group of 3-12C wherein the alkylene group optionally contains a branched structure or a cycloaliphatic structure, (n) is a positive integer.).
