PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an HID lamp light source device and a power supply device avoiding inconvenience of an acoustic resonance. SOLUTION: In a light source device, formed by connecting a discharge lamp with a pair of electrodes oppositely disposed therein and a power supplying device starting the lamp and supply a discharge current to the electrodes, the feeding device has an invertor (Ub), and the invertor (Ub) is composed of switching elements (Q1-Q4) and an invertor control circuit (Fh). The inverter control circuit (Fh) is composed so as to drive control the switching elements (Q1-Q4) by a timing pulse signal (Ckh) of an oscillation block (Uosc'), and the timing pulse signal (Ckh) of the oscillation block (Uosc') is composed so as to be applied phase modulation by means of a phase modulation control circuit (Ut').
