PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a combustion apparatus capable of preventing inconvenience caused by undetected flame though it exists due to sticking of silicon oxide to a flame detecting electrode and a burner. SOLUTION: In this flame detector, a control part 8 determines whether or not a combination flame nonexistent state has been transferred to a combustion flame existent state by comparing a value corresponding to a signal from a flame current detecting circuit 12 with a first reference value; determines whether or not the combustion flame existent state has been transferred to the combustion flame nonexistent state by comparing a value corresponding to the signal from the flame current detecting circuit 12 with a second reference value; and drives a fan motor 14, until a prescribed time passes after starting supply of fuel by operating at least an electromagnetic pump, regardless of an existence determining result of a combustion flame.
