PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vacuum pump which enables an improvement in the efficiency of a motor by reducing the heat generation of a motor rotor and by improving the cooling efficiency of the motor rotor. SOLUTION: The vacuum pump exhausts air by synchronously rotating a pair of opposed pump rotors by a direct-current motor. The motor rotors 5A, 5B of which peripheries are provided with permanent magnets 5a, 5b are mounted at main shaft ends 2a, 2a of the pump rotor, and a motor stator 6 is arranged on its periphery.
