PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an oilproof sheetlike material that has low air permeation resistance, is safe to the human body, has excellent oilproof performance and excellent productivity and is preferably useful as a packaging material for a food especially using edible oil. SOLUTION: The oilproof sheetlike material is obtained by adding guar gum and a fatty acid to a sheetlike material consisting essentially of a papermaking fiber. Specifying the addition ratio of guar gum to the fatty acid, modifying the fatty acid with an epichlorohydrin-based agent and providing the surface of the sheetlike material with an oilproof layer obtain the oilproof sheetlike material having excellent oilproof performance.
