PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an external preparation for skin having excellent releasing properties and stability of urea in the external preparation for the skin comprising water, the urea, a gelling agent and a polyhydric alcohol. SOLUTION: The external preparation for the skin comprises the urea in an amount of 5-20 pts. wt. based on 1 pt. wt. of the gelling agent and the water in an amount of 5-35 pts. wt. based on 1 pt. wt. of the gelling agent and further contains 0.1-20 wt.% of the polyhydric alcohol.
