A flexible seal 12, e.g. in a constant velocity universal joint comprising inner and outer grooved members 3, 1, with torque-transmitting balls 7 in a cage 9 allowing plunge, comprises a flexible wall 13 having a thickened outer rim 14 sealing against the outer member 1 and having a metal reinforcing ring 22 embedded therein and abutting an axially-locating circlip 23 on the outer member. As shown, the thickened inner end 17 of the seal is retained in a groove 18 in the inner shaft member 3 by a reusable hard rubber ring 20. The seal 12 is of moulded rubber. |
