The injection pipe (1) for forming the bubbles may be fastened to the stern of a ship. High-pressure air escapes from the end of the pipe to form a rising column or curtain of bubbles (2). Bubbles may impact on the bottom of a boat or ship (3), reducing the effective density of the water in which it floats. As a result, the ship sinks from a first draught (4) to a second draught (5).
