PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magneto-optical recording and reproducing method which can alleviate or improve edge shifting caused by occurrence of a floating magnetic field generated depending on a recorded magnetic field status as a factor and also can reduce a PLL error and improve a bit error rate, and a magneto-optical recording and reproducing device. SOLUTION: In the magneto-optical recording method which performs recording of information by modulating the magnetic field according to a recording signal, while irradiating magneto-optical recording medium 3 with an optical beam, record mark string information is recorded so as to rectify a recording signal edge position by detecting a mark pattern which performs recording, and changing magnetic domain formation position by changing temperature distribution in each tip of marks so as to alleviate the pattern dependency of the edge shifting (Change of temperature distribution includes power, pulse width and a pulse phase of pulse recording).
