PURPOSE: An electric steering system is provided to restrict a pressing body from inclining by limiting the movement of the pressing body by an elastic body and to smoothly move a worm axially by fitting a shaft unit of the worm into a sliding bearing. CONSTITUTION: An electric steering system comprises a driving gear(71) interlocked with the rotation of a steering assist motor(6) and rotatively supported by a bearing in a housing(8); a driven gear(72) engaged with the driving gear and connected with a steering mechanism; a pressing body for pressing the driving gear toward the driven gear at a free end side of the driving gear; and protruded units disposed in at least one of inner and outer peripheries of the bearing to allow swinging of the driving gear, and assists steering operations by the rotation of the motor.
