PURPOSE: A dual-sided flat panel display structure and a method for operating the same are provided to make it possible to display different images on a side of a display panel, thereby obtaining the effect of two conventional panels in spite of using a single panel. CONSTITUTION: A dual-sided flat panel display structure comprises two sets of light source modules(10,24), two polarizing plates(12,18) between the light source modules, the first and the second substrates between the polarizing plates, a driving array(22) at an inner side of the first substrate, and a light valve element between the first substrate and the second substrates. To operate the dual-sided flat panel display structure, the first light source module is lighted. And then, the first image signal is outputted from the driving array to control the first display of the first image. The first light source module is switched off, and then, the second light source module is lighted. The second image signal is outputted from the driving array to control the second display of the second image. The second light source module is switched off, and then, the first light source module is lighted.
