A medical gas alarm system (10) for use in a healthcare facility (20) having a medical gas system (12) and having a network (14) of computer devices is provided. The alarm system (10) includes at least one area alarm controller (50) adapted to receive a first signal indicative of a condition of a first portion of the medical gas system (12). The area alarm controller (50) is adapted to communicate with the network (14). The alarm system (10) also includes at least one master alarm controller (48) adapted to receive a second signal indicative of a condition of a second portion of the medical gas system (10). The master alarm controller (48) is adapted to communicate with the network (14). The area alarm controller (50) is adapted to communicate with the master alarm controller (48) through the network (14).
