PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To manufacture a plate jack capable of withstanding low pressure at low costs, by obtaining welding with necessary strength without requiring extra members and working. SOLUTION: Two metal plates 1 of the same size and shape are blanked out of a deep drawing steel plate. A projection 2 to which a pressure fluid inlet is mounted is formed at a position shifted from a center of a long side, and portions which will be wasted at the time of blanking are reduced to save material costs. A semicircular recessed part 21 is formed on the projection 2 by press working, and a pipe serving as the inlet is inserted into the projection 21. The two metal plates 1 are superposed, and seam welding is applied to all the edge periphery excluding the inlet. Corner parts of the metal plates 1 are welded by linearly moving a welding machine along the rectangular edge, and weld lines are made orthogonal to each other. To form the inlet, end faces of the projection 2 are integrated into the pipe by brazing. Thanks to the linear welding, work is easily performed, and when the pressure fluid is injected and expanded, withstanding pressure until a crack is generated is larger than that when roundness is provided for the corner portions.
