<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a dye capable of providing an optical recording medium which exhibits high sensitivity and good recording characteristics and can form a highly precise pit. <P>SOLUTION: The optical recording medium comprises a substrate, a recording layer and a reflecting layer, where the recording layer contains a phthalocyanine compound represented by formula (I). The phthalocyanine compound is one having a metallic compound bonded thereto.
