PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a muffler having a simple constitution for maintaining noise eliminating performance in a wider frequency range. SOLUTION: The muffler basically comprises a device body 11 having an expansion chamber 11b inside, an inlet pipe 12 for introducing gas exhausted from an internal combustion engine into the device body 11, and an outlet pipe 13 for delivering the exhaust gas from the device body 11 to the outside. The internal noise eliminating constitution of the muffler is composed of a sound wave incoming port 14a opposed to an outgoing port 13a of the outlet pipe 13 and a branch pipe 14 having the other end closed at the end face as a reflecting plane 14b for a sound wave entering from the incoming port 14a.
