PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a flat lamp device which can respond to design with flexibility, is high in production yield, and gives a long service life. SOLUTION: The flat lamp device has a plurality of fluorescent lamps aligned between two of sheet glasses 6A, 6B and produces a vacuum in the inner void in-between, where the fluorescent lamp has a fluorescent layer 2 formed on the inner periphery surface of a translucent airtight container 1 in the shape of a tube, electrodes 3 located at inner both sides of the translucent airtight container, and lead wires 4 sealed at both sides of the translucent airtight container respectively for supplying an electric current to the electrodes 3.
