The machine has a first excitation source (4,5,6) for exciting the substance of the first validation element causing luminescence radiation emission, and has a second excitation source (7) i.e. light source, for illuminating light in near infrared (IR), visible or Ultraviolet range on the substance of the second validation element. A receiver unit (8) picks up a luminescence signal caused by the excitation. The luminescence signals are evaluated (12) and a sorting control command is generated. A selector (14) activates either one or both of the excitation sources. All components are arranged in a common housing.
