PURPOSE: A device and a method for efficiently simplifying a POST(Power On Self Test) operation on a computer system are provided to maximally shorten system booting time by efficiently simplifying the POST operation. CONSTITUTION: A storing means stores ACPI(Advanced Configuration and Power Interface)-related information loaded during a POST process by using ordinary electric power. A controller completes system booting by directly performing a hard disk booting operation, or sequentially performing an initialization operation with a peripheral chipset and the hard disk booting operation, after confirming that the ACPI-related information is stored in the storing means. The storing means is a CMOS(Complementary Metal Oxide Semiconductor) RAM that the ordinary electric power is applied. The controller is a BIOS(Basic Input/Output System) performing the POST operation when system power is turned-on.
