摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect a position of an unconcealed face component with high accuracy even when some face component is partially or perfectly concealed. <P>SOLUTION: An image acquisition means 13 acquires an image from a video camera 11. A face area detection means 14 detects a face area from the image acquired by the image acquisition means 13. A template matching means 15 performs template patching of four-way face characteristic to calculate initial similarity of the four-way face characteristic. A relaxation matching means 17 finds connection probability showing relationship among the initial similarity, a specific face component, and a face component in the periphery of the specific face component, and detects the position of the specific face component by a relaxation matching method using the initial similarity and the connection probability.
