PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a washing device for a flat display which is utilized for washing a flat display panel, and not only is a simple washing structure but also can effectively remove a foreign matter. SOLUTION: In the washing apparatus washing a substrate utilizing a roll brush, the washing apparatus includes the roll brush located so as to freely connect in response to the surface of the upper or the lower portion of the substrate, gap adjustment means for fixing the roll brush so as to freely move in an upper and a lower direction in response to the surface of the substrate, and a driving section rotating the roll brush. The gap adjustment means includes a driving shaft to which the roll brush is connected, a fixed bracket locating on both end parts of the driving shaft, a rotating plate rotatably fixed to the fixed bracket and movably fixing the driving shaft in an upper and lower direction, a driving source generating power so as to rotate the rotating plate, and a power transmission member by which the power of the driving source is transmitted to the rotating plate.
