PROCESS FOR PRODUCING INKJET RECORDING MEDIUM

A process for producing an inkjet recording medium which can be used in offs et printing, excelling in inkjet recordability and can be produced by means of a transfer roll coater capable of realizing high-speed coating. In particular, there is provided a process for producing an inkjet recording medium, comprising coating at least one major surface of support with a coating liqu id whose main components are a pigment and a binder by means of a transfer roll coater and thereafter drying so as to form an ink receiving layer, wherein t he Hercules viscosity of the coating liquid is in the range of 5 to 30 mPa.cndot.s and wherein the binder contains synthetic silica of 90 to 200 ml/100 g oil absorption, 45 to 200 m2/g BET specific surface area and 1.0 to 3.0 .mu.m average particle diameter and/or precipitated calcium carbonate light/silica composite of 100 to 250 ml/100 g oil absorption, 5 to 150 m2/g BET specific surface area and 1.0 to 10 .mu.m average particle diameter.
