Folding boxes comprising a rigid bottom (10) and rigid side walls (11-14) are already known per se. The side walls (11-14) are connected to the bottom (10) in an articulated manner by means of articulation devices (20-23) such that when in a stowed position they are parallel to said bottom (10) and when in a used position they are substantially perpendicular to the bottom (10) and define a stowage area (9). The corners (40, 41) are joined to each other in a tension-resistant manner by at least two opposite sides (12, 14). The inventive device comprises side walls (11-14) which are disposed on the same plane as the bottom (10) in the stowed position.
