PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method of a vinyl chloride polymer which enhances productivity while retaining product qualities by detecting and measuring the liquid level of contents in a polymerization vessel in steps including a raw material-feeding step and/or a polymer dispersion-drawing out step. SOLUTION: The manufacturing method of the vinyl chloride polymer comprises polymerizing vinyl chloride or a mixture of vinyl chloride with a copolymerizable monomer in an aqueous medium in the polymerization vessel equipped with a reflux condenser, where the liquid level of the contents in the polymerization vessel is detected and measured, using a liquid level gauge disposed on the polymerization vessel, in the polymerization reaction step, and the raw material-feeding step before the initiation of the polymerization reaction and/or the polymer dispersion-drawing out step after the completion of the polymerization reaction.
