In a process to store biodegradable material, a storage container has a ventilator system that is regulated to suppress the formation of methane. The ventilator regulator adapts the ventilation rate to the biological activity within the biodegradable material or gas discharge flue. An independent claim is included for an assembly for use in the above method.
