To facilitate side access to a load on a vehicle provided with a tilt cover, the lower parts 14 of the tilt supporting stanchions are made detachable. The upper part of the stanchion 15 is provided with a socket 17 and a journal bearing 18 to accommodate the journal 13 on the lower part and the parts are locked in the vertical position by a sliding wedge 6a engaging a staple 5 fixed to the platform side. The side boards pivoted to the platform are provided with staples which enter sockets 8 in the stanchion and are retained therein by bolts 7 also operated by the handle 6. |
