A wireless communication unit 110 is capable of playing an electronic game using gaming software by way of a processor 160 and a memory 170. The processor 160 is configured to wirelessly obtain gaming extension data to the game software, preferably from a remote game server 120. The extension data may be selected from a number of options including extension ID, title, description, gaming criteria, ranking, challenge data, additional game levels, additional game tools/attributes. The processor 160 may run the data using the Java (RTM) MIDlet protocol and can be connected to the server 120 running a Java (RTM) Servlet via a hyper-text transfer protocol link. There are independent claims to the gaming server 120, the game played, a wireless communication system and a method of gaming where game extension data for a wireless communication unit 110 is obtained wirelessly from a server 120. |
