The invention relates to a hydraulic turbine or pump having angularly adjustable runner vanes and to feedback means by which movement of the servomotor controlling the angular position of the vanes is fed back to the turbine governor. The turbine runner comprises a fluid servomotor which controls the angular position of the runner vanes 6, fluid being supplied to the servomotor which is of the rotary vane kind through ducts 10, 11 from a valve 4 which is controlled by governor 2 which is operated by an A.C. generator 7. The outer duct or sleeve 10 is responsive to angular movement of the servomotor. A cylindrical member 12 is mounted on the sleeve 10 by means of a key connection 13 so that the member 12 rotates with the sleeve but may move axially relatively thereto. A further sleeve member 14 is mounted on the member 12 by means of bearings 15, the sleeve 14 being constrained against rotational movement but moving axially with the member 12. The sleeve 14 is connected to the governor 2 by means of a flexible cable 17, the cable being maintained in tension whereby the member 12 is urged upwardly. The member 12 is formed with a cam face 21 against which engage rollers 20 mounted on shafts 22 which are secured in brackets 23 which in turn are mounted on a member 25 which is secured to the turbine runner shaft 8. Thus as the servomotor moves so does the sleeve 10 and also the cylindrical member 12; because of the engagement of the cam face 21 with the rollers 22, the rotational movement of the member 12 causes axial movement thereof which movement is fed back to the governor through the flexible cable 17. The shafts 22 have an eccentric portion on which the rollers 20 are mounted so that the position of the shafts may be adjusted and then secured.
