[Also in Division B8] A work-clamping device adapted to be attached to a work-table comprises a base (2), (Fig. 1, not shown) supporting two pillars (3) which are provided with a series of spaced notches or teeth (4) and which are thereby adapted to support at adjustable height a carrier member (6) which pivotally supports a clamping lever or dog (13) arranged to be pressed on to the workpiece (W) by means of a screw (22) which bears against a tail portion of the carrier member (6). The carrier member (6) is provided with notches or teeth complementary to those on the pillars and is mounted thereon by passing it downwardly over the pillars to the desired height and then sliding it forwardly to engage the teeth; a latch member (23) is pro vided to prevent accidental disengagement. Two alternative positions are provided in the carrier member for the pivotal location of the lever (13). The device may be used as a jack by mounting the carrier member (6) on the pillars (3) in an inverted position. Sets of pillars of varying heights may be provided to extend the range of the device. In an alternative embodiment (Fig. 10, not shown), hydraulic means are mounted at the rear end of the lever to provide the clamping pressure. |
