[Also in Divisions F3 and 4] Apparatus for heat treating e.g. annealing or lacquer baking or cooling metal strip 9 comprises a treatment chamber 11 containing plenum chambers 1 and 5 respectively supplied with hot air via pipes 3 and 7, said chambers being formed with nozzles 2 and convergent nozzles 6 whereby the strip is supported out of contact with parts of the chamber 11. Gases removed through ports 8 are recirculated by fans to the lower plenum chambers 5. The space inside an outer casing 12 is connected to waste fans 13, whereby air is prevented from entering chamber 11 through the slots provided for the strip. |
