PURPOSE: A digital video recorder system having a portable monitor is provided to promptly connect external equipments to a digital video recorder, and effectively operate and manage a whole system by using one portable monitor in environment that a plurality of digital video recorders are dispersedly installed at several places. CONSTITUTION: A digital video recorder(10) receives an image signal from the outside for recording the image signal at a digital storage medium. A portable monitor(20) includes a control panel(23) formed of a plurality of switch buttons for controlling the digital video recorder, and a display panel(22) for displaying an image. The portable monitor regenerates the recorded image for monitoring the image. The digital video recorder and the portable monitor are connected by one connector cable(53) by installing a pair of connectors(25,26). A control signal generated from the control panel is inputted to the digital video recorder by the connector cable.
