PURPOSE: A method for cooling quicklime by using a standing type kiln is provided to improve the cooling efficiency by adjusting the supply of cooing air through the classification of the production amount and the particle size of the resulted quicklime, and thus to prevent conveying device from being damaged by heat. CONSTITUTION: The method for cooling quicklime by using a standing type kiln(200) comprises: when the production amount is below the standard level, carrying out a damper mode, by which a certain opening degree of the damper(20) for supplying cooling air(252) to a discharger of the kiln is maintained while separating out the calcined and non-calcined limes; and when the production amount is over the predetermined standard level, measuring the temperature of quicklime(30) in the discharger, by its particle size at many points, with thermometers(10) and carrying out a temperature mode, by which the opening degree of the damper for supplying cooling air to a first and a second dischargers(200a,200b) is adjusted according to the average of the measured temperature.
