METHOD FOR CONTROLLING AN AIR CONDITIONER BY RESETTING THE ADDRESS OF AN INDOOR UNIT IN WRONG CONNECTION OF AN OUTDOOR UNIT TO PLURAL INDOOR UNITS IN THE MULTI-SYSTEM OF THE AIR CONDITIONER

PURPOSE: A method for controlling an air conditioner is provided to control the indoor units accurately by detecting wrong connection of the outdoor unit and the indoor units precisely and resetting each address of each indoor unit according to the connection condition. CONSTITUTION: Each address of each indoor unit is designated automatically in finishing installing a multi-system of an air conditioner by connecting plural indoor units to an outdoor unit through plural refrigerant pipes(202,204). The refrigerant pipes are inspected to check connection of the indoor units to respective solenoid valves of the outdoor unit(206). The outdoor unit memorizes information on wrong connection of the refrigerant pipe in detecting wrong connection of the refrigerant pipe of the indoor unit(208,210). The outdoor unit resets the address of each indoor unit based on information on the wrong connection of the refrigerant pipe. The air conditioner is controlled and operated accurately by matching the actual address of the indoor unit with the address information of the outdoor unit.
