The computer has a basic input and output system with a validation routine (41) for expiry of lifespan of the computer, and a validation routine (42) for the life span. A specific component (20) has a clock (21) whose count value represents the time elapsed from latest allocation of the life span. The routine (41) initiates the routine (42) to allocate a new value for the lifespan if expiry of lifespan is verified by the component. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a method of securing a computer (2) a computer readable medium having code instructions to perform a method of securing a computer.
