PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a select assisting device of an automatic transmission, securing the reliability by mechanical connection of a select lever and a range position switching device, enlarging the degree of freedom in layout by reducing the size of the select lever, and obtaining the select lever operating force characteristic according to the request. SOLUTION: A control unit 22 includes: a target table block 34 and a main control device 221, wherein the unit is provided with a control stop block 50 for stopping the assist control when the detected input operating force is smaller than the target operating reaction force characteristic at the operating position.
