PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vacuum cleaner where a bacteria-corresponding effect is improved by preventing the reproduction of bacteria at a rotating brush built in a floor surface suction tool. SOLUTION: The vacuum cleaner comprises a floor suction tool, a cleaner body and a connection pipe for connecting the floor suction tool and the cleaner body. A photocatalyst which shows an antibacterial effect by ultraviolet rays is applied to brush sections 7b, 7c, and 7d of the rotating brush 7 provided at the floor suction tool 1. In order to irradiate this photocatalyst with ultraviolet rays, a transparent part 23 is provided at a case forming an outer wall in the neighborhood of the rotating brush. Otherwise, an ultraviolet lamp 21 is provided in a case 2. Regarding the ultraviolet lamp, it is desirable to form a transparent part at the upper surface wall part of an ventilation flue 6, and provide an ultraviolet lamp housing chamber 22 so as to irradiate the rotating brush with ultraviolet rays through the transparent part on the upper side of this upper surface wall part.
