<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a composite ion-exchange membrane suited to use as a polymeric solid electrolyte membrane superior in ion conductivity, power generating characteristics, particularly in low and high temperature power generating characteristics, and to provide a fuel cell using the same. <P>SOLUTION: This composite ion-exchange membrane comprises a composite layer in which an ion-exchange resin made of polyarylene ether-based copolymer is impregnated in a porous base material, a surface layer of an ion-exchange resin made of polyarylene ether-based copolymer formed on one surface of the composite layer, and a surface layer of a fluoride ion-exchange resin formed on another surface of the composite layer. The solid polymer fuel cell is arranged with the surface layer of the ion-exchange resin made of polyarylene ether-based copolymer on an anode side, and the surface layer of the fluoride ion-exchange resin on a cathode side. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
