NEGATIVE ELECTRODE FOR NONAQUEOUS ELECTROLYTE SECONDARY BATTERY AND NONAQUEOUS ELECTROLYTE SECONDARY BATTERY

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a negative electrode for a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery, preventing peeling off of an active material from a current collector, ensuring current collecting property of the active material even if charge-discharge is repeated, having high charge-discharge efficiency, and lengthening the cycle life.

SOLUTION: The negative electrode 1 for the nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery is constituted by forming an active material structure 5 having a layer 3 containing active material particles 7 and a surface covering layer 4 positioned on the layer 3. Many fine pores 6 extending in the thickness direction of the surface covering layer 4 and nonaqueous electrolyte permeable are formed on the surface covering layer 4. The surface covering layer 4 is made of a conductive material having low lithium compound forming capability.
