PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow even a designer having little experience to perform designing with the quality of a prescribed level or higher in a short period. SOLUTION: This design support method has: a construction process for registering relations among design specifications, circuit components and design items necessary for the circuit design of a product into a database; a design specification determination process for prompting the designer to determine contents of the design specifications; a circuit component determination process for prompting the designer to determine the circuit components on the basis of the relation between the design specifications and the circuit components; a design item extraction process for extracting the design items necessary for a specific machine type on the basis of the relation between the design items and the design specifications or the circuit components registered in the construction process, and exhibiting them to the designer: and a design item execution process for exhibiting concrete work contents of the design items exhibited in the design item extraction process to the designer, and giving navigation to the designer to prompt the execution of the work contents.
