<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a photoelectric conversion element with high performance, especially high durability using a solid electrolyte. <P>SOLUTION: The photoelectric conversion element comprises two conductive substrates whose at least one is transparent and an electrolyte layer installed at least between the conductive substrates and containing a substance showing reversible electrochemical oxidation-reduction characteristics.
