<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information processor and an information processing method, realizing a system for job or printer device monitoring, allowing easy previous knowing of a state of a printer. <P>SOLUTION: A state of a physical printer device corresponding to a prescribed logical printer set as a monitoring target is monitored, and a result based on the monitoring is displayed on a computer display in a resident state. For example, if displaying the resident display in a task tray in the computer display as an icon, it does not hinder a screen of another document preparation application, and it is unnecessary for a user to expressly direct a monitoring utility to be started in time of printing.
