PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase the number of series conductors without increasing the number of phase windings for constituting an armature winding in a radial direction in order to raise the efficiency of a rotary electric machine for high voltage specifications. SOLUTION: The armature for the rotary electric machine includes an armature core 31, and an armature winding 35. Each U phase winding has series connected phase windings U1 to U4, etc., which has many V-shape segment conductors 37, 42. A plurality of phase laminates 48 in which a plurality of inserts 38a, 38b, 43a and 43b are radially stacked for constituting respective phase windings are aligned in a circumferential direction in parallel in at least a part of each phase slot 33.
