PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To attain the tracking correction accurately and at a high speed without the delay of response. SOLUTION: This head supporting mechanism comprises a slider 50 mounted with a head 60 thereon, a slider supporting member 32 for supporting the slider 50, a load beam 20 having a protrusion 28 at the free end side of the slider, a flexure 30 prepared on the load beam 20, a pair of displacement members 40 arranged between the flexure 30 and the slider supporting member 32, elastic hinge sections 33d, 33e arranged at one end part of the slider supporting member 32 for connecting the slider supporting member 32 and a pair of displacement members 40, and a link mechanism. The link mechanism is furnished with a 1st link connected to the elastic hinge sections 33d, 33e for supporting the slider 50, a 2nd link having the displacement member 40 connected to one of the elastic hinge sections 33d, 33e and the flexure 30, a 3rd link including another displacement member 40 connected to another one of the elastic hinge sections 33d, 33e and the flexure 30.
