The invention relates to a molecolar method for in vitro assessment of the predisposition of a subject to develop cardiovascular pathologies, associated with rupture of an atherosclerotic plaque. The method is caracterized by the identification of a polymorphism in the COX-2 gone promotor, using genomic DNA sample(s) of the subject or a group of subjects. Moreover the invention relates to a kit for detection of such polymorphism.
