<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a dielectric porcelain composition which has high volume resistivity while maintaining such characteristics that it has a high dielectric constant ε, a large Q value at a frequency of 1 MHz or higher, and a dielectric constant hardly undergoing change due to temperature change; and a ceramic electronic component prepared by using the dielectric porcelain composition. <P>SOLUTION: The dielectric porcelain composition contains a main component represented by a[(Sr<SB>b</SB>Ca<SB>1-b</SB>)TiO<SB>3</SB>]-(1-a)[Bi<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>nTiO<SB>2</SB>] and an auxiliary component represented by wMgTiO<SB>3</SB>+xSiO<SB>2</SB>+yMnO<SB>m</SB>+zLnO<SB>k</SB>, wherein each of a, b, and n means a molar ratio, satisfying the expressions: 0.90≤a≤0.95, 0.90≤b≤0.95, and 1.8≤n≤3.0; and each of w, x, y, and z means pts.wt., satisfying 5.0≤w≤10.0, 0.1≤x≤1.0, 0.1≤y≤0.3, and 1.0≤z≤5.0. Each of w, x, and z is based on 100 pts.wt. of the main component; and y means pts.wt. of MnO<SB>m</SB>(in terms of MnCO<SB>3</SB>) and is based on 100 pts.wt. of the main component.
