1304764 Microfilm projectors XEROX CORP 28 May 1970 [2 June 1969(3)] 25636/70 Heading G2A A microfilm projection viewer 1 receives filmstrips bearing picture frames with either a first format 9 or a second format rotated through 90 degrees to the first, the projector throwing images of either format on to a screen 16 with the same orientation. The filmstrip is received on reels 18, 19 of a detachable member 22 with gears 32, 36 which mesh with alternatively drivable gears 49, 50 for forward or reverse film drive. Mirrors 13<SP>1</SP>, 14<SP>1</SP> are simultaneously rotatable about axis XX by means of knob 3 to provide the same image orientation for either format. Member 22 is slidable in guides 26, 28 to permit lateral frame selection. Control 5 is used to pivot the motor and so engage drive wheel 59 with either of friction clutch wheels 57, 58 for forward or reverse rotation of shaft 42 through endless belt 55. Bevel drive wheels 43, 44 slidably mounted on shaft 42 are selectively cammed into driving engagement with gears 49 or 50 by a pin and inclined slot connection with shaft 42, depending on the sense of rotation. Manual drive to shaft 42 is provided by knob 6. Projection lens 12 is focused by a chain drive from control 4. Film support member 22 may be replaced by single slides or micro-fiches. |
