PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a secondary battery having high energy density and ensuring high workability via a simple method by manufacturing a composite oxide using the sol-gel method where metal alkoxide and at least one type of lithium compound are used as starting materials, regarding a secondary battery electrode manufactured by using a composite oxide made of lithium metal and other metals as an electrode material. SOLUTION: Metal alkoxide to be used is preferably vanadium alkoxide, and a lithium compound is preferably lithium alkoxide, lithium hydroxide or lithium halide. A ratio of vanadium atoms and lithium atoms in a composite oxide made of lithium and vanadium is within the range of Li/V=0.3 to 5.0 at a mole ratio. Also, as a solvent used in the sol-gel method an alcohol solvent such as methanol and ethanol is preferable. A gel is dried at a freezedrying process and thermal treatment is applied at temperature equal to or above 300 deg.C. |
